Protagonist Pictures is an international finance, production and sales company which has a proven track record in outstanding films and commercial successes. Based in the UK, the company handles films from around the world, always maintaining a strong focus on filmmakers with exceptional vision and storytelling skills.

Our shareholders include Film4, Vertigo Films and Ingenious Media.


Dave Bishop is CEO. Prior to becoming Protagonist's CEO, Dave held several roles within the company including Head of Worldwide Acquisitions and Director of Sales. Dave has previously held senior roles at Sony Pictures Entertainment and Revolver Entertainment.

Dimitra Tsingou is COO & President of Production. Dimitra previously worked as Senior Business Affairs Executive at Future Films and Aramid Capital Partners before moving to the role of Head of Production and Business Affairs at Swarovski Entertainment in 2010. Most recently Tsingou was at Film4 in a senior legal and business affairs position working on projects including Protagonist titles The Lobster and Dark Horse.

Vanessa Saal is Managing Director, Sales & Distribution. She joins Protagonist from Paris-based Studiocanal where she was Senior Vice President. Vanessa previously worked at Kinology and started her career at Focus Features International in New York.

George Hamilton is Director of International Sales. Before joining Protagonist in 2013 George produced and directed digital content for a wide range of brands and agencies, as well as a number of short films.

Marta Ravani-Lorber is Director of Video, Digital and TV Sales. Marta joins the Protagonist team from TF1 International where she was International Sales Manager.

Charlotte Lopez is International Sales Manager. Charlotte joined Protagonist from the Seville International sales team at eOne having previously worked at Picturehouse Entertainment and Studiocanal. 

Bridget Pedgrift - Head of Marketing. Bridget 's early career was with the British Council and Channel 4 TV, before heading up the Publicity and Marketing department for Film4 International. After a career break in 2002, she took up her current role with Protagonist Pictures at its inception in 2008.

David Bartholomew is Marketing Executive. David previously worked for Metrodome, Icon and TV Loonland, joining Protagonist at its inception in 2008.

Anne-Lise Fernandez is Operations Manager. She started her career at Gaumont and previously worked at eOne as well as Studiocanal in Paris, before joining the UK team.

James Pugh is Protagonit's Head of Legal & Business Affairs, having joined in 2017 from Studiocanal UK. Prior to that he worked in business affairs at Curzon Artificial Eye and Revolver Entertainment.

Elisa Lindemann is the Legal & Business Affairs Assistant. She joined Protagonist from Bristows LLP.

Michael Colbert is the Financial Controller, having joined Protagonist from Deloitte UK.

Isabelle Stewart is Head of Acquisitions. Isabelle joined Protagonist from Focus Features where she was Director of Acquisitions and Production. Prior to Focus, Isabelle held acquisitions roles for Universal Pictures International Productions and StudioCanal.

Len Rowles, Head of Development. Len joined Protagonist from Wildgaze Films where she was Head of Development across Film & TV. Len previously worked in development at Pathe Productions, prior to which she was an independent producer working across live action and animation.

Marielle Membreno is Protagonist’s Office Manager. She has worked in various coordinating and production roles in both Los Angeles and London.

Marie Langlade-Demoyen - Sales Assistant. Joined Protagonist after completing a series of internships in Sales and Marketing in companies such as EntertainmentOne, Altitude and The DDA Group.

VERTIGO FILMS is a UK production house and distributor boasting a string of successes such as the StreetDance films, Bronson, The Sweeney and Walking on Sunshine alongside critical hits that include Spring Breakers, Humpday & Valhalla Rising. Upcoming titles include Sword Of Vengeance, American Hero, Monsters Dark Continent and Kill Command. Vertigo has a strong rapport with the best of UK and International talent.
