Protagonist Pictures is an international finance, production and sales company which has a proven track record in outstanding films and commercial successes. Based in the UK, the company handles films from around the world, always maintaining a strong focus on filmmakers with exceptional vision and storytelling skills.

Our shareholders include Film4, Vertigo Films and Ingenious Media.


Mike Goodridge joined Protagonist as CEO in Summer 2012. He was previously editor of trade publication Screen International. He spent 19 years at Screen, including 12 years as the Los Angeles-based US editor.

Dimitra Tsingou is Chief Operating Officer. Dimitra previously worked as Senior Business Affairs Executive at Future Films and Aramid Capital Partners before moving to the role of Head of Production and Business Affairs at Swarovski Entertainment in 2010. Most recently Tsingou was at Film4 in a senior legal and business affairs position working on projects including Protagonist titles The Lobster and Dark Horse.

Dave Bishop is Head of Worldwide Acquisitions. He joined Protagonist from Revolver Entertainment where he was Head of Acquisitions, and has previously worked with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group.

Vanessa Saal is Head of Worldwide Sales. She joins Protagonist from Paris-based Studiocanal where she was Senior Vice President. Vanessa previously worked at Kinology and started her career at Focus Features International in New York.

Jennifer Fattell is International Sales Director, having joined Protagonist from A+E Television Networks. Previous companies include Exclusive Films International in London and EuropaCorp in Paris.

Bridget Pedgrift - Head of Marketing. Bridget returned to film after a career break, having previously headed the Publicity and Marketing department for Film4 International.

Michael Colbert is the Financial Controller, having joined Protagonist from Deloitte UK.

David Bartholomew is Marketing Executive. David previously worked for Metrodome, Icon and TV Loonland, joining Protagonist at its inception in 2008.

George Hamilton is International Sales Manager. Before joining Protagonist in 2013 George produced and directed digital content for a wide range of brands and agencies, as well as a number of short films.

Hashim Alsaraf is Operations Manager. He previously worked at Arts Alliance Media as Account Executive.

Fred Jacobsen is Sales Executive, having had a successful stint as Protagonist / Creative Skillset International Film Sales Trainee. Before joining Protagonist for this four month scheme Fred lived in South America working for an advertising festival and spent time in film development. 

Marta Ravani-Lorber is Director of Video, Digital and TV Sales. Marta joins the Protagonist team from TF1 International where she was International Sales Manager.

Harriet Harper-Jones is Acquisitions & Development Assistant. Prior to Protagonist, Harriet worked in a variety of development and production roles in both film and theatre, as well as producing a number of short films.


FILM4 has been the driving force behind a renaissance of British cinema, producing some of the most acclaimed movies in the last 25 years of British cinema history and attracting some of the world's most exciting international talent. VERTIGO FILMS is a UK production house and distributor boasting a string of successes such as the StreetDance films, Bronson, The Sweeney and Walking on Sunshine alongside critical hits that include Spring Breakers, Humpday & Valhalla Rising. Upcoming titles include Sword Of Vengeance, American Hero, Monsters Dark Continent and Kill Command. Vertigo has a strong rapport with the best of UK and International talent.
